What is Anapana meditation?

Anapana is observing the natural, normal breath as it enters or leaves the nostrils. It is a simple meditation technique which helps to calm the mind and concentrate better.

Anapana also helps children to understand themselves and how their minds work. They will gain mastery over their impulses and behaviour. They will develop an inner strength that helps them choose the right and appropriate actions over wrong actions. Anapana is a tool that can be used to help deal with agitation, and with the fears, anxieties and pressures that they might experience in childhood and adolescence.

Practising Anapana can have many benefits, including:

  • Improved concentration and memory
  • Increased self-awareness and alertness of mind
  • An ability to relax
  • More self-confidence
  • Greater capacity to work and study
  • Better goodwill for other people

“I meditate to calm my mind and feel better.”

„For me meditation is a challenge – a challenge which, once mastered, gives you a lot of rewards and transforms your life completely. It makes you much more focused and helps you to see your goals clearly and accomplish them with hard work.”

“For me meditation is just observation in silence, because the mind keeps wandering, it needs to do something, it always thinks about actions. In order to calm the mind, you should do nothing but sit and observe the natural breath.”

“I meditate so I can concentrate better and do all my tasks more effectively, because I have a lot of school work and hobbies as well and at times it is hard to juggle them all.”
